Rooster Cole is the solo storyteller showman project of Black Black Hills frontman and songwriter, UK artist Mark S. Aaron.
Tales of overblown gestures, love and loss, tinged with a 1950s Rock n Roll swagger.
There are echoes of The Doors, Anna Calvi, Elvis Presley and the chamber pop of Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy).
Mark’s song Far From My Arms was picked as one of Lauren Laverne’s MPFrees of the Day, Black Black Hills were selected for the Radio One Playlist, receiving warm praise from Edith Bowman, Nick Grimshaw and Huw Stephens.
His song River Deep taken from his solo debut More Than You (EP) will feature in a multi-million Euro budget French Feature Film which will shoot in early 2016.
Rooster Cole is signed to Presana Recordings and Presana Music Publishing.
‘Beautifully sullen, evocative of The National.’ – Faded Glamour
‘Reminiscent of Nick Cave or some other deep voiced storyteller.’ – BBC Introducing
‘This hints at Two Gallants and the Black Keys, the more you listen, the further subtleties you appreciate, whilst always drawing back to cower in the imperious vocal. Bloody great.’ – The 405
