'HARUKO' is a pseudonym of composer and producer, David Lawrie. Classically trained on piano from the age of 7 and soon diversified by teaching himself a number of world instruments. He graduated with a BA and an MA in Music Production at Leeds College of Music in 2008, and has since been writing and producing for and with other artists on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as composing and producing his own music.
His work blends a number of disciplines and influences, from turn-of-the-twentieth-century French impressionists, to music concréte, to 70’s progressive rock, and electroacoustic/acousmatic. Under the guise of Haruko however, he has a much firmer rooting in electronica, glitch and modern minimalism.
HARUKO's style has mystery, intrigue, danger and sexiness - when you play a track that you like, you should see 'view track' to the right-hand side - tap there and you'll be taken to view all the track metadata needed, along with a link to the MCPS rate card for easy processing.
A member of Presana’s creative network, David founded his own record label, Ishikawa Records, in January 2014.
